Bass Lake Music Lessons provides private guitar, singing and songwriting instruction for adults and older teens in a dedicated teaching space on Bass Lake in Oro-Medonte. We offer individual lessons and small group classes.
Ian North, a professional songwriter and performer, offers focused, one-on-one lessons rooted in practical musicianship and creative development. Jennifer Claveau brings additional experience in the music industry as a practicing artist, former college instructor and arts management professional. Together, they offer thoughtful guidance grounded in real-world experience.

Music lessons take place on the shores of Bass Lake in Oro-Medonte, at the Green Forest Gallery.

Online lessons are also available.*
Ian North offers beginner, intermediate and advanced guitar and songwriting lessons. Professional delivery of fully customized creative programs for teens 15+ and adults.

Guitar lessons are generally between 30-45 minutes per session at $30. Songwriting sessions are a minimum of 60 minutes starting at $85 per hour. Special pricing packages and volume discounts available.

About Your Teachers
Ian North is a professional songwriter and performer with decades of experience in recording, live performance and musical collaboration. His teaching is rooted in real creative practice. Ian North holds a Bachelor degree in English from York University, Toronto.
Jennifer Claveau is an accomplished singer-songwriter and practicing visual artist. She is also a business consultant with experience in post-secondary instruction and music industry development. She supports students in creative direction and professional awareness. Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree in Art History and is expected to complete her Masters of Environmental Studies with a focus on environmental arts and Sustainability Education this June 2026 from York University, Toronto.
Artist-in-Residence Program: Special guests, colleagues and touring artists will be invited occasionally to lead specialized performance workshops, interdisciplinary practices and experimental collaborations using a wide range of percussion instruments.
